Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is rooted in wisdom principles that promote greater awareness of stress and the investigation of its origins.
This 7-day retreat will explore, through direct experience, the Vipassana (Deep Vision or Intuitive Wisdom) tradition from which MBSR draws part of its deep roots.
Through mindfulness meditation as taught in MBSR, engagement in body practices, exploration of perception and reactive mechanisms, participants are empowered to contribute to their own health and well-being, cultivating a continuity of practice that engenders stability, tranquillity and focus. Evening presentations highlight key elements in the causes and relief of stress, pain and suffering. Individual and group discussions provide an opportunity to share meditation practice, offering participants support to deepen their understanding and strengthen their personal practice.
This retreat is an important experiential learning experience for all those who wish to turn towards life in all its richness. For those who wish to teach or are already teaching MBSR, or any Mindfulness-based program, this retreat offers the opportunity for an essential experience, since it is through the depth of our own practice that we are able to support others.
Bob Stahl has implemented the MBSR program in seven medical centers in the San Francisco area and currently teaches it in two hospitals. He was a long-time MBSR instructor trainer at the Oasis Institute, the professional training center of the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts, where the MBSR program was created. He is co-author of five books, including, “MBSR Everyday”, “Living With Your Heart Wide Open”, “Calming The Rush Of Panic”. He is also a regular teacher at the Insight Center in Santa Cruz and an occasional teacher at Spirit Rock in California and at the Mindfulness and Health Institute. Recognized worldwide, he leads retreats and seminars on every continent.
Geneviève Hamelet is a Caycedian sophrologist by training, an MBSR instructor and trainer certified by CFM/UMass and MC@Brown, and has been trained in the MBCT program. She is also an IMP (Interpersonal Mindfulness Program) instructor, co-founder of ADM and IMF (Initiative Mindfulness France), and a member of the GMC (Global Mindfulness Collaborative). She has been practising meditation for some thirty years and teaches it in a traditional context at the Tarab Institute and the Ripa International Center.
This retreat is for people who have completed an eight-week MBSR/MBCT cycle (or similar). It is ideal for those teaching or training to teach MBP (Mindfulness-Based Programs), for those who are integrating Mindfulness into their professional activity and for those who simply wish to strengthen and deepen their personal practice.
